13 Cuba Bast
A fine, strong and soft cloth-like bast of the Hibuscus elatus in Cuba. It is used for millinery purposes because of its lace-like appearance, and was formerly much used for tying up bundles of Havana cigars. The plant also yields a bast fibre which is coarse and strong and is used for the making of cordage and coffee bags. -
